With any spillage or accident involving liquids speed is of the essence to avoid any long term damage. Immediately blot with plain paper kitchen towels making sure that you soak up the liquid until dry. If any residue is left, a solution of carpet shampoo and warm water with a teaspoonful of white vinegar can be used for rug cleaning. Carefully blot with a cloth soaked and well squeezed out. Allow the rug to dry and then vacuum. Carefully comb the pile in its natural direction to remove any matting.
Damage from moth larvae and other household rug eating pests can be avoided as long as the rug cleaning is regularly taken out by brushing or vacuuming and is exposed to light. For example do not hide your rug under furniture that is never moved. In the event that moth grubs are discovered you must vacuum straight away and if possible place the rug into a deep freeze as this will kill the larvae completely.
We advise that you send the carpet to a rug cleaning expert to ensure that the pests are eradicated. Please contact us for further details and estimates of cost of our rug cleaning service.
