Tibetan
Tibetan rugs were formerly woven by villagers and nomads mainly for use in monestaries within the country. After the Chinese occupation of 1950 until today the vast majority of 'Tibetan' rugs are made by refugees in India. Any Tibetan rug referred to as 'old' would predate 1950 and is considered as genuinely woven in Tibet itself.
