Shiraz

Shiraz is the main market town for the local indigenous tribes such as the Kashgai to sell their fine rugs and carpets. It is also the name given to village and workshop produced goods of a lesser quality. Shiraz rugs are generally quite coarsely woven with a low knot count; a longish, shaggy pile; geometric designs in fairly brash traditional colours.
