Ideas for Interior Design
This traditional style, modern living room is in a house on an exclusive new development in Bath. The room was designed with new furniture throughout. Our customer selected this Turkish Tokat rug to bring out the colour of the 3-piece suite whilst creating a contrast to enliven the feel of the room. The orange/red border picks up the colour of the bookcase and other wooden pieces. The effect of the rug, which cost around £800, is to create a focal point to a tastefully furnished space which might otherwise have lacked a certain zest.

One of the great attractions of the oriental rug as a resource for interior design is that it lends itself so well to combinations of the old and the new. One area in which it can be used to powerful effect is the modern office interior.
The spacious reception area of this very smart and well appointed office in North London has been fitted out with fine quality veneered furniture and fittings, together with some antique wooden items. The natural effect of the wood is both complemented and enhanced by two splendid rugs: a large Persian pure silk Qum (left) and Chinese Royalty.

The centrepiece of this beautiful, traditionally furnished room in Barbados is a Turkish pure
silk, oversize Hereke, which was located after an extensive search. The space, which was created by a professional interior designer, establishes a unifying element in colour, tone and pattern between the two delicately patterned sofas through the floor covering.
The high-end Herekes we supply are exceptionally fine in weave and contain literally millions of knots, which gives them such subtlety and density of pattern. However, please note - if you should feel that this rug is exactly what you need for your home, it's cost is in excess of £37,000! But there again, it is one of the most expensive modern pieces you can obtain.

A well-chosen oriental rug, such as this Kashguli, can provide an excellent feature for a contemporary interior. Bang and Olufsen of Bath, who are renowned for their cutting-edge design and advanced hi-fi and TV systems, demonstrate how effectively a hand-woven rug produced by a nomadic tribe in souther Iran can combine traditional quality with a modern look. |
