Hazareh Carpet

Hazareh rugs and carpets originate in the area around Peshawar, West Pakistan. Made by Afghan weavers to the highest quality using the top-grade Ghazni wool for durability and lustre, the designs are based on Persian Ziegler and Indian Agra patterns from the 19th C. The soft natural colours are derived entirely from vegetable dyes. Typically these modern interpretations of the classic style have a pale ivory or cream background with the design picked out in soft reds, greens and golds. The overall effect is washed out, very pleasing on the eye and able to work in a wide variety of furnishing situations.
