Hazareh rugs and carpets originate in the area around Peshawar, West Pakistan. Made by Afghan weavers to the highest quality using the top-grade Ghazni wool for durability and lustre, the designs are based on Persian Ziegler and Indian Agra patterns from the 19th C. The soft natural colours are derived entirely from vegetable dyes. This fine example of the Ziegler-style design is in gold, cream and soft aubergine against a terracotta background.
