Mashad Rugs (also: Meshad, Mashhad)(also known as Khorasan) come from the Khorasan Razavi province in north-eastern Iran whose capital is Mashad, one of the oldest centres of Persian carpet weaving. Mashad Rugs are the best known of the Khorasan Rugs. Carpet weaving in Khorasan predates the Pazaryk carpet going back thousands of years. In the late 1550s some of the most perfect rugs ever woven were created in Khorasan. The greatest Mashhad workshop of all time was that of Sultan Ibrahim Mirza. More recent Mashad workshops include Amoghli, Khamenei, Makhmalbaf, Saber, and Zarbaf. Mashad is also seen as one of the most holy cities in Iran, because of the shrine of Imam Reza located there. Mashad rugs use some of the best wool and have elegant designs like medallions on busy floral fields. You will find also Kashan or Herati patterns. Mashhad carpets are sometimes marketed as Khorasan rugs.

RETURNS   DELIVERY   ASK A QUESTION

Returns, Refunds & Exchanges

We want you to be delighted and inspired with what you buy from us!  So, if you find that the rug, kilim or piece of furniture just isn’t right when you get it home, tell us and we’ll do our best to exchange it for something you love.

The same goes if you want to return something for a refund. The last thing we want is customers unhappy with their purchases, so of course we’ll refund you.

Just two caveats:

  1. We ask you to cover the cost of returning things to us; and
  2. We can’t refund or exchange items that are not in the same condition as they left us, whether dirty or damaged.
